Parking in Oxford

City of spires — park and ride is easiest

Oxford city centre is largely closed to through-traffic and on-street parking is extremely limited. Oxford City Council operates six park and ride sites around the city — with bus services running every 10 minutes into the centre. Driving into Oxford without a permit is strongly discouraged and enforcement is among the most intensive in the UK.

Parking tips for Oxford

Park and ride is genuinely faster

With Oxford's bus lanes, P&R buses often reach the city centre faster than driving and circling for a space. Redbridge for the south, Pear Tree for the north.

University areas

Streets near the University and Bodleian have the most permit-only restrictions. Even 5-minute stops without a permit attract fines.
